Watson wins in New Orleans

Bubba Watson won a play-off against Webb Simpson tonight to claim the Zurich Classic of New Orleans title.

The 32-year-old's triumph was his second victory on the PGA Tour this season after winning the Farmers Insurance Open in California in January, and his third in 10 months having also won the Travelers Championship last June.

Watson and Simpson shot matching 69s to finish at 15 under overall and force the play-off which Watson won at the second extra hole with a birdie at the par-five 18th. Both players had completed the hole in four strokes first time around.

Watson's two-putt from just over 50 feet was good enough for the title as Simpson failed to get up and down from a greenside bunker and could only shoot par.

Both players had come agonisingly close to winning the tournament before the play-off.
